Mary was out of town at a conference yesterday, so I wanted to find something fun for the kids and myself to do together. Last week, I found out that a new place opened up on Northwest Expressway in Warr Acres, OK, where an old Wal-Mart used to be. It is called “Incredible Pizza“. I…
Whether you love Wal-Mart or hate them, there is no doubt that their rise has been at the expense of many smaller retailers. In order for comedy to work, there has to be at least a grain of truth in the humor. Check out this hilarious flash animated movie of Mom and Pop Vs. Wal-Mart….
Netflix, Blockbuster, Wal-Mart and many others have entered the online DVD rental game. It is a very competitive market with each merchant bringing something different to the table. Today, I ran across a novel approach to DVD viewing. Peerflix.com invites you to TRADE DVDs instead of renting them. It’s a pretty spiffy idea, and they…
It is getting easier and easier to rent dvds and video games on the web. With BlockBuster and Wal-mart in the game, pricing is going down and service is getting competitive. I have used Blockbuster online for several months now and have been quite happy with the service. For $14.95/month, I can keep up to…
I am ticked off at Target. We shop there regularly, but not today. You may ask “why Joel, why?”, and I’ll tell you. For years, the Salvation Army has stood in front of various department stores and chain outlets ringing their bells, spreading good holiday cheer and collecting funds for very worthwhile causes, such as…
This is hilarious. Wal-mart cashiers are not necessarily the nuclear physicists of the world (and neither am I), but Alice Regina Pike of Georgia apparantly believes they are dumber than a box of rocks. The 35-year-old woman tried to pass a $1 million bill at one of Walmart’s superstores. The Covington Police Department reports that…
Another great Walmart story brought to you courtesy of the “whats-in-it-for-me” crowd… A Mt. Pleasant Township couple wants Wal-Mart to pay for foot and toe injuries they claim were caused by canned goods and condiments that tumbled from an overfilled plastic grocery bag. According to a two-count civil lawsuit filed Wednesday in Westmoreland County, Brenda…
Now here’s the way everyone really wanted to spend Christmas Eve… being beaten up at a Wal-Mart by ravenous wolves stressed out over holiday shopping. Man beaten in checkout line dispute Matthew Baures loves Christmas, but he learned the hard way that there is very little holiday cheer while waiting in line at a Wal-Mart…
Around 3 pm Sunday afternoon, Mary came into the office and said something like, “If we would have thought of it, we could have just left today.” I stared at her for about one second and spoke, “Well, why don’t we?” I don’t think she realize what she got herself into! We furiously gathered everything…
I am eager to get past this leveling off in my metabolism. It’s falling off a bit slower this week, but I remember this happening last time. It seems like I am going nowhere and then the bottom drops out and more pounds falls off quickly. I’ve been VERY good about my eating habits. I…
