The NEW JoelComm.com

Change is inevitable. We either swim against it, get sucked into it or go with it.
As an entrepreneur, I like change. I enjoy taking risks because swinging for the fences is the only way you’ll ever hit a home run. Besides, you’ll never know what would happen if you don’t go for it!
That’s why I’ve decided to get a face lift.
No, I’m not talking about the wrinkles on my brow or the bags under my eyes.
I’m talking about my web site and my public face.
After ten years of blogging on this site, I have made a BIG move. Not only did I change my hosting service, but I have also made the leap from Movable Type to WordPress.
So, augmented by a sparkling new design, I would like to welcome you to the NEW JoelComm.com!
Created by my friend Matt Clark at TweetPages.com, the new design highlights who I am, what I’ve done, what I am currently doing and what I am thinking about in a fresh new way.
As I took some time away from my business, I considered what I wanted to do when I re-entered the marketplace. What I realized is that my gifts haven’t changed.
I am a communicator and creator. As such, I will always be an author, speaker, entrepreneur and a consultant.
Whenever I communicate through my writing and speaking, I seek to inspire, educate and entertain.
When I create, I seek to be original and make an impact on individuals and the marketplace.
And when I consult with others, whether stay-at-home entrepreneurs or large corporations, it’s my hope that my experience and insights will provide the right solutions.
You’ll notice that the main sections of the site are color-coded. I think it’s pretty nifty!
Of course, the blog is an integral part of the new design. I don’t write regularly, but when I do it’s because I have something to say. (Duh.)
WordPress makes it SO much easier for me to interact with you and reply to your comments. The social share buttons are more inline with what is expected on content sites today.
At the top of the site, you’ll find easy links to my presence on all the social sites. Simply click the icons to find me and follow as you wish.
All-in-all, I think the site is more current and easy to interact with then the previous incarnation.
[tbpquotable]The bottom line is that I’m just a guy trying to do cool stuff and make a difference in this world.[/tbpquotable] I really want to focus on bringing value to others and it’s my hope that this new design communicates who I am to others.
When was the last time you did a check on your blog or site? Is it current? Relevant? Does it communicate to the world who you are and what you are about?
As always, I’d love to hear your comments below. Now that I am on WordPress it should be MUCH easier to interact with you.

Congratulations on making the big move, Joel. Onward and upward!
Thanks Roxann!
Looks well done Joel!
Thank you, Dan. I appreciate that. 🙂
The site is great except for the very small and greyish font. It’s quite a work out on the eyes. Otherwise I thought it was about time things change!
Keep going.
Thanks! I darkened the font and increased the type size.
Looking good, Joel!
Thanks Troy! so are you, my friend. 🙂
Joel, love the new design. Looks fantastic!
Thanks Ray, you inspire me!
Clean and easy to read. Your new theme is awesome. You’re gonna be on a tear now that you switched to WordPress. Welcome to the ‘darkside’.
Gotta love WordPress!
Hi Joel, how do I speak with you for 2 minutes max on the upcoming one day event?
Sent you email!
Awesome new look Joel! You are such an amazing guy!
That’s sweet of you to say 🙂
Certainly captures your reformulated “direction”. Some might view author, entrepreneur, speaker, etc. as who you are. But would you say those are more about What you do? I would love to see another category for your “Who you are” story, which I believe is different than those other ambitions and probably more important.
Excellent points.
Wonderful! Font size can be made larger.
DONE!
Hi Joel, I agree, great looking website. I’ve been blogging for almost a year now using Word Press. They do a great job keeping comments organized and spam out.
Miker
Absolutely
I love the new site design. Very clean and user friendly.
I clicked on the blue “Consultation” link on the “Consultation” page (lower left out of the four available) and I got a 404 error message.
Thanks for the bug report! Fixed. 🙂
Hi Joel,
Don’t see any reference to Socrates?
Regards.
Mike.
Hey Mike! No, this is the Phoenix theme I am using. 🙂
Hi joel,
Bit confused, would you not in this instance get the result you want using Socrates? The site does look good by the way.
Regards.
Mike.
Hey Mike,
No, this theme is very different from Socrates. I am not seeking to monetize my blog with AdSense or Clickbank, which is one of the primary benefits of Socrates. Socrates allows space for custom headers, but with set dimensions. Also, Phoenix has the sliders which I like a lot!
VERY nice, Joel!
Matt has done you well 🙂
Thanks Susan 😉
You are SOO creative, Matt!
A most excellent job Joel. Very fresh and exciting. One minor thing that I really like I just found as I decided to comment on this post – your “captcha” is easy for me to read. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to deal with captchas that are next to impossible to decipher.
Also, I’m looking forward to a post that provides your insight into now using wordpress – after using Movable Type for so many years. I know so many of us have moved over to wordpress – and I for one would love to hear your take.
Congratulations!
Thanks Mark!
Congrats Joel!
Looks cool & crisp.
I’ve been thinking of making a change, expanding and re-branding. Thanks for the inspiration.
🙂
Debra
Thanks Debra! Glad to inspire.
Hi Joel,
The new site looks fantastic and all the best. I must admit you are my Blogging Guru and thanks so much for all the things you have been doing and helping others. #respect.
Hi Joel, while I agree this theme is very clean and tidy the fonts are very faded 🙁
Take a look at John Carltons blog – You definitely ‘know’ you’re on John’s blog with his colourful language and forceful fonts – I agree, I’m no expert – but just an opinion from an avid blog-reader 🙂
Cheers Joel …… Pete.
So Fresh and So Clean.
Love the new look Joel! So fresh, clean and easy on the eyes.
Great looking site! A new paint job always does wonders for property value. If I may say — you seem renewed! Good luck in this new phase.
Joel
Nice new diggs
I love the new look of your website.
Thanks Dwan!
Wow…this new look is more futuristic and i like it very much
