This Post is EXTREMELY Controversial
Warning: What you are about to read is highly controversial.
It is literally laced with controversy.
Controversy is oozing out of its very pores.
Unless you are prepared to be challenged to the core, you should probably stop reading now.
Otherwise, I hope you are sitting down. Things are about to get interesting…
If you are still reading, I guess that grabbed you.
That’s what controversy does.
It sends your curiosity meter to a ten instantly.
Whether the topic is politics, religion, current affairs or Lady Gaga’s latest stunt, we are drawn to controversy like a moth to a flame. (Don’t look at it… it’s beautiful!)
When I look at my own blog, I notice that many of the most popular and frequently commented entries are those that are controversial.
There’s my horrid experience with Arbonne that has garnished over 1500 comments to date.
How about the time that Facebook booted me for having too many friends? A timely topic that regularly receives pleas from others who have had a similar experience.
And there is the more recent What’s wrong with Internet marketing post in which I take those who would feed upon others to task.
I think we’re drawn to controversy because we all like to blow off a little steam. And when a blogger writes something that allows us to identify with the subject matter, we are more likely to get involved.
The odds are that controversial posts will find passionate audiences on one or both sides of the issue.
Take a stand against someone doing outright evil and you are likely to have raving fans siding with you.
Choose a political stance and you’ll be both cheered and jeered depending on your audience.
And make a controversial mistake of your own and watch some of your own loyal fans turn on you like a pack of wolves. Yeah, it would have to a be a pretty serious mistake, but it does happen.
I don’t try to be controversial for controversy sake. I blog about what matters to me.
Whether it’s business, entertainment, culture, politics or any other subject, I share my experiences as authentically as possible.
But if you are wanting people to engage with you on your blog, it doesn’t hurt to select controversial subject matter and let loose with your opinions. When your opinions are strong, you are sure to elicit strong opinions from your readers.
Are you attracted by controversy? Here’s one way to know.
Take a look at the blogs and sites you visit.
How many of them are geared towards controversy?
Are you more inclined to contribute comments when you come across a controversial post?
Always eager to hear your thoughts. Go ahead. Say something controversial. You know you want to 😉

I can’t stand Arbonne
