TOMS Giving in the U.S. – Helping American Children in Need #OneForOne

There are those who talk about making a difference in the world and there are those who are actually doing it.
One company is literally walking the walk, and helping others do so more comfortably. That company is TOMS Shoes.
You may be familiar with TOMS one-for-one campaign. For every shoe purchased, TOMS gives away one pair of shoes to a needy child somewhere in the world. Over the years, TOMS has provided over ten million pairs of shoes to those who might not otherwise have shoes. They are the poster-child for corporate philanthropy as their mission is a key component of every product sold.
Blake Mycoskie, the Founder of TOMS shoes, has announced that the company and their Giving Partners have added a national focus to their One-for-One program by committing to give at least one million pairs of new shoes to needy children in America by the end of 2014.
I have not owned a pair of TOMS shoes, but I will be purchasing my first pair as a result of seeing the valuable work this company is doing.
Check out this video to see what the current mission is all about.
Here are some of the shoes TOMS is giving away in their One-for-One program.

First, there is the tried and true Canvas Unisex Slip-Ons. There’s a lot of colors to choose from and these look pretty comfortable.
Then there is TOMS line of sports shoes. These are more for physical activity.
Finally there are the winter boots. Living in Colorado these could come in handy. They are fleece-lined (for happy warm feet), waterproof and have an adjustable fit.
I’m happy to support a company with such a fantastic mission. I believe strongly enough in what TOMS is doing that I am part of the TOMS #OneforOne paid brand ambassador program. All opinions expressed are my own.
If you read my emails or listen to my podcast, you know I always sign off with the phrase “do good stuff.”
TOMS is doing good stuff and I hope you will consider supporting them by getting a pair of shoes and providing a child in need with something new for his or her feet.

I have three pairs of TOMS shoes. You are going to love them! You can’t go wrong with the canvas slip ons. Regardless of which ones you choose, it is great that while you are walking around in comfort, you are helping someone else do so, too!
Joel, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the choices available. My family loves TOMS and we joke that we are collectors, especially my 14 year old. My daughter who loves video has spent time on YouTube watching videos of campaigns and not to long ago she educated me on why she wear TOMS, I was really impressed with her attention to the cause and wasn’t just using it as an excuse to get another pair.
My kids wear them, now I am also looking forward to purchasing my own pair for the first time. Last April, I participated in the ‘One Day Without Shoes’ campaign by TOMS and I loved it. It made me aware of what it is like to not have something. TOMS giving away shoes is an awesome thing they are doing. Love being part of this campaign with you. Looking forward to more reads.
Both my son and daughter love TOMS! My son bought his first pair a few years ago, and sort of started a trend at his school — little did his friends know that it was all part of a master plan to help others! My coworker even has TOM wedges heels that are sophisticated enough to wear to work — hmmm…maybe I should buy a pair of those too. Thanks, Joel, for reminding me about all the TOMS choices I have 🙂
I am also very proud of the students at my alma mater, Spelman College for spearheading a campus-wide ‘One Day Without Shoes’ event each year in support of the great work TOMS is doing. The students, staff and faculty go all out to show their support, and I love helping them promote it on the web and through word of mouth.
