You Can’t Force a Great Idea

After the success of my book Twitter Power, my publisher relentlessly pursued me, wanting to know what my NEXT book would be about. I kept telling him that I don’t know and that I wouldn’t write another book just to write another book. Instead, I knew I had to wait for inspiration and that I would know when the time was right.
A lot of people try to force great ideas. The fact is that great ideas usually don’t come when you are trying to think of them. They often are derived from real-life experiences. Products and services that meet needs are a result of recognizing that those needs exist in the first place. The greatest successes come from those who are helping others solve problems.
I had been doing a lot of public speaking, and had developed a new presentation that demonstrated the many unique ways in which people can make money online. After I gave this presentation a few times and received fantastic feedback from my audiences, a light went on above my head. DING! Why not turn these concepts into a manuscript? Inspiration had arrived.
The result? My latest book: KaChing: How To Run an Online Business that Pays and Pays
The point I want to make is that you can’t force your ideas. As you seek to utilize your passion, skills, knowledge, and ability, and infuse them with your unique personality, you will undoubtedly find a need that you are equipped to meet. That’s when you’ll have your own “a-ha!” moment.
Go forth and do good stuff. Your great ideas will come.
